Scope: Backend .NET Unit & Integration Suite (ModelContextGateway.Tests), Standalone Media Server (MediaMcp.Tests), Frontend Vitest Suite (frontend/src/test), Playwright E2E Suite (frontend/e2e), and Windows Native Environment Diagnostics (scripts/windows/Test-WindowsEnvironment.ps1).
1. Executive Confidence & Coverage Summary¶
Following the comprehensive Windows host deployment, IIS In-Process ANCM v2 integration, and DPAPI validation cycle, the test suite across Model Context Gateway and Standalone Media MCP is exceptionally robust, modular, and enterprise-ready, providing high overall confidence (98–99%) for production homelab, enterprise Active Directory, Windows Server IIS, and multi-cloud container workloads.

Windows Native Subsystems & IIS In-Process ANCM Validation¶

WindowsDpapiProtectorutilizes Windows Cryptographic APIProtectedData.Protect/UnprotectwithDataProtectionScope.LocalMachine. Secrets stored asREG_BINARYinHKLM:\SOFTWARE\ModelContextGateway\Secretsare dynamically retrieved and injected into outbound downstream MCP requests without plaintext disk exposure. - Windows Identity & S-1-5-32-544 Mapping: Verified

HashiCorp Vault Integration¶
- AppRole & Token Auth: Tested with both Token and AppRole credentials in
VaultAppRoleAndRenewalTests.cs. - Testing & Health: Connection testing via
POST /api/settings/secrets/test-vaultandProvidersControllerTests.csverifies TTL and tokens live against Vault test containers and mock instances. - Database Encryption: All Vault credentials in the SQLite/MSSQL/MySQL database are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM.
Active Directory & LDAP¶
- LDAPS & Security Defense: Enforces LDAPS (port 636) with filter escaping (
EscapeLdapFilter) to defend against injection attacks. Network failures trigger fail-closedSecurityException. - Windows Identity Abstraction:
IWindowsIdentityAccessorabstracts Windows SID extraction (WindowsIdentity.UserandWindowsIdentity.Groups), fully tested inActiveDirectoryWindowsIdentityTests.csand augmented with LDAP group resolution.
